There's a bit of spritz and very light flavors of fresh pear. A lick of honey winds through and continues on into the finish, offsetting a slightly bitter note.

On an eminence above the river Garonne, this estate is in the Entre-deux-Mers. The wine ,with its juicy red fruits, has just a touch of tannins along with crisp acidity and a mineral aftertaste. Produced from organically grown grapes, this is clean, bright and will be ready to drink from 2019.

Reserve

Dark and musky, this is an unabashedly earthy wine, with a rough, somewhat disjointed mouthfeel. Though labeled GSM, it's principally a Syrah/Mourv dre blend, with just a splash of Grenache.

Cuv e

This is a thick, syrupy-rich wine that traffics in candied cherry and oak flavors. It has appeal but lacks varietal character.

This wine has intense aromas of blueberry pie and vanilla, along with a barnyard note. The palate is jammy in prune and baked berry flavors. There is a yeasty and resinous quality as well. The finish is long, tart and mouthwatering, with a charred-oak note on the back.

The Little Villager

Cranberries and pie cherries give a crisp, almost citrusy, edge to this wine. The tannins are silky and there's some appealing clove-like spice as well, but the acids are elevated, making the wine come across as tart and ungenerous.

Pinot Noir

Extremely pale in color and dilute in flavor, this might be reminiscent of watermelon, and could go down easily on a warm day. But there's not much here in the way of actual flavor.

Joy! Estate Bottled

This is an incredibly beautiful and yes, joyful, sparkler, made from equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This particular offering was disgorged in July 2016. It positively impresses in minerality, complemented by a more fulsome sense of lemon, apple and hazelnut on the creamy palate, leaving a rich trail of silk on the finish.

Wedding Cuv e Estate Bottled

An offering meant to toast all manner of celebrations, this wine wows, blending 78% Pinot Noir with 22% Chardonnay in a near-perfect union. Dry and beautifully floral, it opens in a bouquet of marzipan, peach and honey. The mousse is fine, while supporting acidity lends a lemon peel and grapefruit lift. The memory imprinted on the palate will linger long after all the toasts to the happy couple or whatever else you're celebrating have been made.

SQM Gimblett Gravels Cabernets/Merlot

This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (62.5%), Merlot (25%) and Cabernet Franc (12.5%) is aged in one-third new French oak for 10 months, resulting in a lovely marriage of vanilla and cedar with cassis. The wine is youthful and primary, but the oak and fruit are seamlessly integrated, blending baking spices and chocolate into the mix. Richly textured, with a long finish, this wine is delicious now, but should age well through 2030.

The nose is still closed but already whispers of fragrant citrus show. The palate strikingly combines a core of ultraripe fruit think juicy mandarin, golden peach and gorgeously aromatic blood orange and a masterful lightness of touch. The freshness is chiselled and precise, the finish is lasting and impressive, but never losing its unforced gentle nature and the lightest touch.

Vieilles Vignes

Be grateful that St phane Aviron is an old-vine hunter. Serious tannins and concentration from 100-year-old vines give this wine its depth and richness. It has a great potential to age with black fruits, a mineral texture and acidity. This is an impressive cru wine, full of both fruit and density. Drink from 2019.

Steinertal Smaragd

The spicy nose already signals joy: Bosc pear is edged with mandarin and white-pepper spice. The concentrated palate flows with ripe juicy white-fleshed pear fruit but is given direction by gentle ripe citrus freshness and sheer bundling of flavor. There is welcome texture to the midpalate and beautifully penetrating zestiness. The finish is long and very moreish.

Bentley Ironworks

So much is happening on the nose and palate of this bottling that it can hold one's attention for hours. Rich aromas of cola, cocoa, coffee, dred black cherry, oregano, black pepper, dried herbs and slow-roasted beef lead into a palate packed with peppercorn sauce, tangy dried berries and hints of ancho cl-chocolate. After wading through layers of herbs, the finish is minty.

Limited Edition Apollo Drive Vineyard

Superripe blackberries and cherries are cloaked in a haze of vanilla, cardamom and leather on the nose of this inky perfumed Petit Verdot. Black fruit flavors are unctuously ripe and penetrating, yet maintain a four-square balance of acidity and elegance. Fringed in fine firm tannins, it's delicious now but should only improve from 2020 through 2030.

In der Schablau Reserve

Peppery mirabelle plums just steal the show. They dominate nose and palate and give you an extra spring in your step with their spicy zippy fillip of freshness. If you are in need of lively refreshment, look no further. This is an exemplary Gr ner that expresses everything that is exemplary about the 2015 vintage.

Garys' Vineyard

Deep, rich aromas of baked plum, rhubarb pie, star anise, red cinnamon, forest floor and gingerbread show on this nose of this wine from a vineyard planted by the two Garys, Pisoni and Franscioni. The palate is full of baked raspberry and cinnamon-and-clove-spiced cookies, remaining elegant and layered throughout the sip.

Rancho Santa Rosa

Light on the nose, this shows delicate aromas of Asian pear, honeysuckle, squeezed lemon wedge, fresh coconut flesh and a tiny bit of butter. The palate is also demure yet delicious, with lightly poached apples, squeezed lime and a chalky textural grip.

A roasted rich note of espresso and grilled pumpkin appears first. The palate is still dense with rich dark-berry fruit. This is full bodied but pervaded by freshness. The finely woven tannin structure is still very firm, very grippy, even though the fruit underneath it begins to show. This is now five years old and has barely begun its trajectory. Lovely now if you like full-bodied wines. Drink now through 2030.

Pellingen Reserve

The nose already hints at the concentration of the palate, which hits like a bullet of spice and fruit, of pepper and pear. This is compact and fresh and given a wonderful and welcome drive by grapefruit zest. The finish is of aromatic pear and tingling white pepper and generous but well-directed ripeness.
