Although it's not indicated on the label, this is a Blanc de Blancs from Chardonnay. It is warm and ripe, with a soft texture allied to fresh acidity. Orange and lemon zest give a great lift to this rounded wine.

A touch salty on the entry, this wine offers sizable hits of oak and otherwise nondescript elements of apple, ginger and pear. It then becomes somewhat sour in lemon and lime on the finish.

With honest PN aromas of cherry, rhubarb, currant and spice, this registers as something Pinot drinkers can relate to. There's modest weight and good acidity, with spicy, tea-influenced flavors of plum and raspberry. Dry with some cocoa on the finish. Surprisingly nice for a $9 clan Pinot.

This is a nonvintage blend of Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, with additions of Viognier and Muscat. Its Chenin-like nose is floral and rich, and its lychee, lime and kiwi flavors swirl about before coming to a refined, perfectly crisp finish.

Good price for a Santa Rita Hills Pinot Noir this good. Shows lots of zippy acidity and is very dry, with complex layers of raspberries, cherries, Dr. Pepper cola and dusty spices. Drink now.

Lucente is made from a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. You get a lot of bang for your buck thanks to rich, velvety tones of chocolate, spice and forest berry that last over a long, succulent finish.

Power marks this gigantic Syrah. What it lacks in subtlety, it makes up for with its sheer size. Syrah doesn't get much riper in blackberry, cherry and chocolate flavors. With its thick, rich tannins, drink it soon with beef and game dishes.

Tawny in color and wafting of potpourri and fallen leaves, this raspberry-inflected wine is already starting to show its maturity. Briskly concentrated and light on its feet, it makes an elegant sip to enjoy now before it loses its delicate, perfumed charms.

A blend of Grenache (65%), Mourvèdre (25%) and Syrah, this suggests peppery spices, stewed raspberries, game and high-toned spices. The palate is the star, full bodied, textured and richly flavored. An orange peel accent leads to a warm finish.

This simple, fruity, red-berry-flavored wine has bright acidity along with soft tannins. It's a great barbecue style of wine, fruity and ready to go with grilled meat.

A modern style coastal Chardonnay, brimming with acidity and starring major league pineapple, tangerine, Asian pear, buttered toast and honey vanilla flavors. Very rich and flamboyant. Calls for a rich shellfish dish in a cream sauce.

This plump, medium-bodied Pinot Noir lacks for fruit, instead showcasing savory notes of underbrush, smoke and roasted vegetables. Drink up.

This reserve wine is a ripe and smooth blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca. New wood aging for nine months has brought out the ripeness of the fruit and added a spicy edge. Still young, its black fruit and structure need further developing. Drink from 2019.

Red apple, honeysuckle, Key lime and the slightest hint of flint show on the nose of this bottling from a Temecula producer. Broad white-peach flavors imbue the palate, cut by sour citrus and marmalade touches.

Aromas of apple cider, peach and oak lead to a full palate. Flavors of melon and banana have a nutty quality, while this is stable on the finish, with tropical fruit and honeyed flavors. Drink now.

Here's a unique blend of two of Campania's little known grapes, Casavecchia and Pallagrello Nero. It opens with a pretty fragrance of blue flower, ripe berries and spice. The soft, round palate offers red berry and fleshy blackberry accented by cinnamon-toast notes. Drink soon.

A very nice Pinot Noir that's dry and silky, with satisfying cherry, cola, oak and spice flavors. Not one to age, but fine for drinking now, and easily as good as many Pinots costing more.

Morello cherry, black raspberry, dill, spearmint, underbrush and cinnamon-spice sensations all come together on this round, easy-drinking wine. There's no complexity, but it's soft with attractive fruit and ready to enjoy now.

Slightly muted tones of pressed apple and pear are brightened with lemon acidity in this dry light-footed wine. A hint riper and richer than Keuka Lake Vineyard's other 2015 Rieslings, it's texturally slick, enriched by streaks of honey and nectar. The finish is a bit savory, but brisk.
